Hello everyone, The Gear Gals have lots of big news, so if you're prone to faint from excitement, you better sit down. ;) First off, yesterday and today Grace Young (our mentor and STEM project inspiration) did an exhibit at our school (pictured below) and talked to us about her work. We learned so much more about her, and how she came into the field of ocean engineering. Unfortunately she is leaving tomorrow, but she stayed longed long enough to give us advice and tips on our robot (newborn Gigi 2.0 see post below) and on our STEM project. This was truly a great experience for all the Gear Gals.
In other news, tomorrow we will be attending a states competition that last until Saturday. This competition was ultimately determine if we move onto World. (So basically no pressure at all ;) ). Gigi 2.0 has fixed the issues we had with the originally Gigi, and so much more. We've been working on our autonomous and our overall average is 15 points, with a high of 20, so wish us luck. Our two amazing drivers, Gears Gals Harper and Kelsey, have been practicing a ton for the teamwork challenges. Because for two days we'll be in Richmond, in a hotel, we might not be able to post, but don't worry, we'll make sure to post by next Wednesday. Wish us luck at the competition!
